Bartender on Wednesday, Software Developer by Friday
Last week, I lost my job as a bartender. For the third time this year. It sounds like a lot at first, but that’s just the status quo of the world in 2020. With my four days of termination notice, I let myself get carried away with thoughts of spearfishing, snorkeling, and hiking my days away, for the next few months at least.
The very next day, a friend of mine at GameDevHQ reached out and let me know that there was opportunity in an up and coming software development program. In essence, I could get paid to learn computer coding, but the door was closing fast. I choked. Just ahead of me were clear days on green summits, ice cold water falls, big fish, and longer breath holds than I’d ever made while diving. But how can we pass up such opportunities for self-betterment? Especially in such a field as booming and sustainable as software development.
I made an unfortunate choice.
My life as a fish will have to wait. For now. Thanks Jonathan & Austin.
